Shelburne Falls, MA
Retired nurse, Pat Vohr, is blessed with an abundance of restless and creativity energy and a lifetime interest in nature, natural fibers, yarns and cloth. She and her physician husband raised Merino and Shetland sheep and Angora goats (Mohair) in Charlestown, Rhode Island for years, but then gave up being shepherds and moved to Shelburne, Massachusetts where they built a zero-energy house.
Pat is also a classically trained pianist, master knitter, master seamstress, and avid gardener. She loves to hike with her 2 quirky Border Collies, always on the lookout for leaves and plants that will imprint natural fibers.
Recently her interests have evolved from quilting and sewing to natural dying yarns and fabric as well as Eco-printing. Her home location, "in the woods" ,and her gardens offer an endless selection of plant leaves and flowers. Wherever she goes, on dog walks or just visiting, she has her clippers and a bag for collecting more material for her products.
Pat uses plant-based dyes and natural fabrics of wool, silk, linen or cotton for her pillows, table runners, scarves, and napkin sets. Every piece is unique according to dyes used and seasonal plants. Pillows are made of a cozy fluffy wool, and a soft prewashed linen. Most have a zipper closure for easy care. Tags will describe the size of the product, the dyes and processes used in each unique piece. Table-wear is a luxurious 100% linen, naturally dyed and some are ecoprinted.
